Spring Preview

Whether we choose to acknowledge it or not, Spring is just around the corner. Fashion designers such as myself are always planning ahead. One of the things that really inspired me was the Pink Furla Candy Bag. I certainly didn't have anything so soft and feminine in my product line to compliment such a beautiful bag! So I pulled out pattern paper and set to drawing something.

This is the Scarf Top done in the palest of pinks. I made it to tie at the neck and flair out at the hips. It's perfect for jeans or legging. Request it a bit longer and wear it as a dress! I offer it in several colors so there's quite a variety. And of course I added my Pink Furla Candy Bag. Perfect!

Pantone's Fashion Color of the Year - Tangerine Tango

Hmmmm! How do you feel about that? Tangarine Tango is the forecast color of 2012, so says the color experts, Pantone. I'm not sure how I feel about orange as a hot color this year. Oh, come one.... tangerine .... orange.  Potato ... Po Tat To. It's orange! Nevertheless, it is suppose to be a hot color this year and even I want to be ready.

I think Tangarine Tango is wonderful to chic up those drab winter colors! Instead of running out and getting a full ensemble of orange that would just be a shock to any system and possibly send the "fashion police" to your door to issue a warning, try a bit of accessorizing first. Baby steps. Here are a few items that I found that won't break your wallet or get you arrested.

As you can see,  you really don't have to break the bank to add a little Tangerine Tango to your life. You can take this as far as you want .... or at least as far as your Visa card will allow. When I went searching for some of the best items I could find in orange....ahem.... Tangerine Tango, I really was overwhelmed. There are so many gorgeous fashion pieces to be found in this color.  If you have a favorite, please share! I'd love to see it.




 As you can see I've added my own contribution to what is sure to be a wonderful fashion craze this year! However,  if Tangarine Tango isn't your thing, I also offer my ruffle top in 15 other colors! I don't do girly very much. My designs lean more of the side of sexy or practical. I guess there's been no middle ground with me. Certainly no room for romantic or feminine. This time I wanted to try something soft. Something with a little flow without the frilly. Sorry. I hate frilly. Well I hate it today. But who knows where my design evolution will take me as time goes by.

The End of 2011

For my comeback I really grappled with what to talk about. Should I pretend I hadn't left? Should I apologize for my long neglect of my blog? Should we celebrate? I don't know. So, moving right along.

This past year has been a lesson in what it's like to taste the first bits of success in my business. A lot of mistake that I made taught me wonderful lessons in what my customers like and don't like. Designs had to be discontinued. There were some harsh lessons there. The giving in and admitting my customers don't like a particular design that I myself loved! So I often went back to the drawing board to create new designs! OMG....successful designs!

Bow Front Back Out Top

Since I've introduced the Bow Front Back Out Top, I seen a couple of Etsian attempting to create their own without blatantly copying but just a matter of time. I actually sat down and drew this design from scratch. This is always fun! Then a customer challenged me to make a dress. Done!

One of my favorite new designs of 2011 is the my infinity scarf. Yeah, I know... lots of designer make those. But I wanted something plush, chic, ritzy.....

Russian Husky Infinity Scarf

The Russian Husky Infinity Scarf was just introduced to my site this month so it's a bit to soon to gauge its success, but I sure do like it.

Earlier this spring I designed a shrug but I waned something with drama and flair. Also one that uses my favorite Eco-friendly modal knits.

Hooded Maxi Shrug

I wanted something the wearer could dress up or down. Something soft, comfortable and barely there. The Hooded Maxi Shrug really has been one of my biggest successes of 2011. Wonder how I'll top it in 2012?!?

Here's the newest design

The holiday season is coming up and my best friend, Coy, tells me I don't have a "little black dress" among my designs. I told her, "You know if I make anything it's going to be short". She pursed her lips, rolled her eyes and said "fine". So I proceeded to visualize something pretty, short, drippy and trendy. The latest fashion trend is definitely ruffles and I loved the opportunity to make a ruffle dress! So here it is.

It's made with a dripping spandex knit in black with gold specks on it. This gives it an overall liquid bronze appearance. Imagine this with some black fishnets and the highest black heel you've got in your closet! Beautiful!

Since summer is essentially over and I'm getting ready to add new designs to my shop, I decided to slashed the prices of some of my old stuff. I currently have eleven item in the Sales section of  my shop. I'm posting a few here. Sizes are limited but everything that is on sale is for $12. That's less than half price for almost every item listed.

Everchanging Fashion Video Slideshow

Hi Everybody!

This is my first post so I haven't figured out how to get my fashion video hard written on to the the front page yet. I've added a link that will take you to Youtube where you can view it. Or you can use the Vodpod on the sidebar to also view it.

Why the fashion video? Well I'm an independent fashion designer and I think the video slide show is so much more fun to look at for a quick view of my designs before going through my website. I am having my website built even as we speak. So far it looks great. In the meantime, I'd like you all to see my fashion slideshow. Let me know what you think.

About me, the designer. Well I was recently laid off from my day job at Shell Oil here in Houston, TX after 10 years of service. I've decided not to go back to work for the man. LOL! Well I have my own company now, so I am "the man"! Needless to say, this is a one wo - man operation. So for all it's faults, failures, successes and milestones, there's no one to blame but myself. That's okay. I'm starting to get use to the idea.

Although I would love everyone to see my designs, love my designs and buy my designs, my passion for fashion goes far beyond just the things that I make. I love the history of clothing. I love getting to know fabrics. I love accessorizing.  I love simple clean lines. I don't like to embellish. I'd rather design one item that you'll wear day in and day out. I'd like to design something that you're comfortable wearing out. I'd love to share my own passion for fashion with you. So this blog will be about everything fashion. Not just my designs. I'm not under the illusion that I'll have a thousand readers tomorrow. No I figure I'll be talking to myself for a long time to come. But if you do happen to drop in, maybe you'll have time to leave some input. Let me know you were here. Say something! I welcome comments. Thank you.
